Abstraction of a Shadow

Brick wall, a shadow, and a small window-the elements of an abstraction. What does it mean to you? An abstract doesn’t require any meaning. Often the emotional response is more important. What emotion does this image invoke?

I took the shot because of its authenticity–I have never seen it before. As well, I liked the contrast, texture, colour, lines, shapes—all principles of art.

The marvelous thing about photography is that you can capture an image of anything, and often create something interesting. For many years, I thought that all photographs must be “representational”. As I studied photography, I learned that this is not true. We can create HDR, overlay, blur, blend, take multiple exposures,  capture abstract photographs. And with Photoshop, the possibilities are countless.
